George

I'm doing an upgrade to a factory air system--using the evaporator set-up and the original compressor bracket but with a new Sanden 508 and conversion bracket. Are you running R-134A ? Are you using just the large condensor in front of the radiator ? Is this one of the newer parallel flow types ? How effective is the cooling ? Like you, I will need to punch some holes through the firewall. i intend to use a 1-3/8 " screw type body punch I got from Eastwood instead of a hole drill. Tried this out on some scrap sheet metal and it works well. Could you decribe other chgs you made and how you wired in the relay--Thanks--George Des

I think this website may be the supplier to Bud's

www.iceac.com

I don't see our cars listed on their site. Maybe Bud's makes the mounting bracket which would be unique to our cars.

Thanks George,

At a minimum I need a new dryer and hoses. The parts are all here but the system has not worked in the 7 years I've had the car.

Jeff,

the compressor is from I.C.E. (never heard of 'em myself), p/n 2521145. I don't know if I.C.E. is the manufacturer or just a supplier, but there were no other names on it.

If I were working with an original system as you are, I'd probably go with a modern rotary compressor, too. Is that all you need to get it going?

Looks like a nice system. Who makes the compressor and what model is it? I've been looking at a Sanden compressor and a York to Sanden mounting bracket since I have the old A/C system.

Thanks,

The receiver/dryer, mounted on a home-made bracket, along with a relay used to provide power to the a/c unit. The kit directions say to attach a wire to one of the fuses in the main fuse box, but I wired differently with a relay instead. The holes for the hoses are behind the coolant expansion tank; making those holes was the worst part!

The compressor, which mounts on a steel plate that attaches to the front of the engine, and is spaced about 1 inch forward of the front block face. Hard to see, and hard to photograph now that the bonnet is back on.
